Chow Mein Noodles for About a $1
I've tried two varieties of Chow Mein noodles by Nissin Foods. They are pretty good! I first bought one for my child, and microwaving it made my home smell delicious. My husband asked what I had cooked and requested some. Tonight he had the Teriyaki Beef and I had the Thai Peanut. They only cost about $1 each. I found them at Kroger but have seen them in one of the dollar stores, too. Sometimes when I feel guilty about going out to dinner, I try to find something we can eat for $5 or less the next day to save money. This did the trick. A tasty, filling and cheap food. Wow, Great Work Clothes for 70-90% off at Kohl's
This weekend I went into Kohl's and found a variety of winter clothes from 70-90% off. That's cheap! I was able to pick up nice sweaters and blazers for as little as $5 each. Often when I'm shopping I ask myself "Do I have to have this right now or can it wait?" Well, winter clothes could wait but I needed to beef up my corporate collection of clothing and paying $7.80 for a nice sweater instead of $78 is a no-brainer. Always buy 0ff-season for great deals. You have to make it a treasure hunt though because you will be picking through the random sizes and styles that are left on the rack. It is rare I would ever fall in love with something so much that I would pay full price for it. The icing on the cake was when Kohl's gave me $10 in Kohl's cash (like a gift certificate) to use this coming week. I need to be disciplined and know what I'm going in there for. It will most likely be a necklace. [END OF POST]

Send Flowers Cheap via CheapFlowers.com
Wow, a way to send flowers for just $29.95 including shipping. I found this website yesterday and placed an order: CheapFlowers.com. Since flowers are delivered with a little personalized card, too, you save money by not having to buy a greeting card/stamp to go with a gift. Not bad. [END OF POST]

Are You Paying for Text Messages from Solicitors?
Nothing irritates me more than when I get a text message from a solicitor. Not only is the text a disruption to my personal life, but I also know I'm going to have to pay for that text message. I was happy to see this article about the issue. I would encourage you to contact your local senator and request a ban on mobile spam. You should not have to spend your own money to receive unwanted text messages from solicitors.[END OF POST]

Get Nintendo DS Games Cheap In-Store at Target
I visited my local Target store yesterday and was suprised to see amazing deals on Nintendo DS games. I normally buy my games used on eBay because I think the prices are too steep. Yesterday there was a buy-one-get-one-free offer on many of the $30 games. Many another DS games were discounted a whopping $10 off. On top of that, there was another row of games (not locked in a glass case) that were all around $15 each. And some games were on clearance for $13. I've never seen such cheap prices on DS games. I visited Target's website and couldn't find games with a huge discount like I saw in the brick and mortar store. [END OF POST]

Using Airline Miles to Make Exotic Trips Affordable
Travel is my passion and when I was out of work for a few years, I was devastated to not have the travel funds I was used to. I could not possibly stay home all year - I had to think of something!
Here's how I took a trip to Maui and a trip to Cabo San Lucas for a fraction of the price.
-My husband and I each signed up for an airlines credit card. We used our cards for every day expenses (gas, groceries, restaurants, Christmas/bday gifts, etc) for about a year or two. You normally get about 15k miles for signing up and have to earn another 10k miles by charging $10k. Sometimes there are mileage promotions that allow you to earn the miles faster. The key is to pay your bill off every month or you are essentially paying for the miles by paying interest on the card.
-Traveling out of the country requires WAY too many miles, so I redeemed our miles for tickets to Los Angeles. From L.A. or New York, you can pretty much fly anywhere.
-With two free tickets to Los Angeles, I then searched sites like TravelZoo for hugely discounted vacations. I found a 5-day all-inclusive for the Intercontinental Presidente in Cabo for about $500 per person (flight from L.A. included). Another year I found a cheap flight from L.A. to Maui (off season) and found a gorgeous hotel that was off the beach so was half the price of the other resorts. It was called the Diamond Resort.
Both of these trips cost me about $1k for the two of us and would normally cost close to $3-5k a couple I'm guessing. They were wonderful, moderate-to-upscale vacations and we had a great time. Put on your thinking cap and you can find cheap travel always. [END OF POST] Click Here to Read More..

Economy Has People Eating Less Nutritional Food
Does a poor economy lead to less nutritious eating? I have thought about this a lot - especially at times when money is tight - which has been quite often for me over the past several years. Even when I get the motivation to eat healthy, it's hard to pay for the food. For instance - a turkey sandwich will run me $5-7 at my office cafeteria or some place like Panera Bread. Yes, I could make a sandwich at home but I'm sorry - it just doesn't taste good. However, a cheeseburger from McDonald's for $1 tastes very good. I recently (for the first time ever) decided to buy bell peppers and slice them up for a snack. I told the cashier there was an error when the peppers rang up for more than $3 each. Seriously? My favorite cheap veggie is the cucumber. It costs about a $1 for one, it tastes good sliced up and its filling, too. [END OF POST]

Are Anti-Aging Products Worth the Money?
I'm going to be 40 in a month and I've just started noticing some little wrinkles around my eyes. For the past couple months I've been looking at anti-aging products at the stores, noticing the ads on t.v. and in magazines and wondering, 'Do these things really work?'
Today I finally decided to spring for Olay Regenerist Eye Lifting Serum for $19. It felt like a lot of money to spend for just this tiny little bottle - but hey, if it is a magical serum that will take my wrinkles away, I won't be cheap about it. It's worth it. I'm doubtful though, but I will put it on my face for a month. I heard I should see results in 24 days. [END OF POST] Click Here to Read More..

Dieting Saves Me Money
Whenever I cut back on my eating, I definitely notice I am saving money. I work full-time and will typically buy a bagel and coffee for breakfast ($4), some kind of $5 lunch, and usually takeout or fast food for my family for dinner ($15).
I am on a mission to lose weight so lately I have been eating 2 packs of instant grits for breakfast (still buy the cup of coffee $2). A turkey sandwich for lunch ($5) - save the other half for dinner ($0). And cooking something simple for my child ($1). My husband doesn't do low-fat so he tends to stop for his own dinner ($5) when I go through these phases. We may not be conventional but that's how we operate.
So I am saving about $11 a day. Anytime I save money, the cheap side of me is very happy. [end of post] Click Here to Read More..
