The Perfect Classy But Cheap Day Today

I love when I have the perfect day - fun combined with frugal. I started out my cheap adventure with a bagel and iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts. It would have cost $4.95 but I used a coupon and paid $3.00. My next stop was T.J. Maxx. I previously discovered that one of my favorite summer brands, Life is Good, is available at T.J. Maxx. Today I got one of their awesome $25 t-shirts for $12.99. I also discovered a wonderful boutique brand of pajamas today at T.J. Maxx. They are called Munki Munki and they feel as soft as the finest cotton sheets. These sell for $50-$100 each at the boutique but I was able to nab a pair for $14.99. They are awesome! Next, on to Moe's Southwest Grill for a free burrito to go. I earned the free burrito last month by filling out a 2-minute online survey. Final stop, Rite Aid. I got an offer in the mail to transfer 2 prescriptions and receive a a $50 gift card. Sometimes a little bit of your time and a little hassle pays off.

Today was fun. I got great food, top quality new clothes, and a $50 gift card, and only spent about $60 for the whole day. Gotta love it! [END OF POST] Click Here to Read More..

Save on Mother's Day Greeting Cards

My husband and I have two grandmas, two mothers and two step-mothers. Around this time of year, when Mother's Day is approaching fast, I start to stress out about money. The first thing I do to save money is to buy my greeting cards at the dollar store. I get them 2 for $1.00. Luckily they do not print this cheap price on the back of the cards, they usually say $2.25 or something like that.

My next rule of thumb for all holidays/occasions is this...if I'm giving a gift, I am not giving a greeting card with it. It has always seemed silly to me to attach a boring card on top of each gift. If anything, I'd rather spend a little extra money on the gift itself. I buy fun little 8 packs of gift tags, where I can sign my name and tape it to the gift.

So for Mother's Day I am sending greeting cards to my grandmas and step-moms. I am buying gifts for my 'real' moms, so I won't buy cards for them. Surely I will save a few dollars being classy but cheap! [END OF POST] Click Here to Read More..

Impressed with Kohl's Customer Service

My husband recently went shopping at Kohl's and didn't realize we had one of their handy 15%-off coupons at home. He spent about $100, and I was upset that he didn't use the coupon. I went back to Kohl's with the coupon and his receipt, and the customer service associate gladly refunded the $15 to his account. In addition, a few items of clothing had gone on sale since he purchased them and she voluntarily discounted his past purchases to the sale prices. We ended up saving about $30. My husband would have never gone back to do this, but to me it was well worth it. I can't stand to overpay for anything! [END OF POST] Click Here to Read More..

Hit the Dollar Store on the way to the Movies

I've noticed one of the local dollar stores (I think it was Dollar Tree) selling those big boxes of candy for $1. You know, the kind of candy you buy at the movie theatre for $4.50. I bought about 8 of them to keep in my pantry.....Snowcaps, Twizzlers, Nerds, etc. The next time we are headed to the movies, the kids can choose from a wide variety of yummy candies and I will save big. Don't Pay for Shipping when Ordering Holiday Gift Cards

If there's one thing that annoys me, it's when a company wants to charge me $7.95 to ship me a gift card I'm purchasing on their website. They should offer free shipping. First of all, when you buy a gift card, it's instant cash for them. Second of all, studies show that a very high percentage of gift cards are never redeemed. Gift cards are a cash cow for stores and restaurants.

Today I found a website that lists retailers that will ship gift cards for free. I used this site as a reference to complete my holiday gift card purchases online. [END OF POST] Click Here to Read More..
